ROEBOURNE GENERAL STORE (IERAMUGADU STORE MAYA)
The Roebourne General Store, which is currently situated on the main street in Roebourne, was purchased by NYFL in 2005 providing a service to the community in providing necessitous fresh food with an emphasis on keeping the prices down.
As part of the Ngarluma Aboriginal Sustainable Housing (NASH) project, a retail centre is proposed in the prime position at the intersection of Point Samson-Roebourne Road and the North West Highway. This centre will provide retail facilities for Roebourne residents as well as the wider communities in the growing West Pilbara towns and the passing tourists, which is estimated to reach 2,600 vehicles per day.
Taking the largest and central retail space will be the re-located Roebourne General Store which shall be re-named the Ieramagudu Store.
The NASH project is set to be a great opportunity to achieve cultural change in Roebourne which has historically had little retail investment. The timing of which is perfect given the major industrial expansion taking place in the West Pilbara.
